This is supposed to be a weekly blog post but clearly it is not. Ever since the last time I posted we have completed the butterfly project. We also had cs ed week last week where we showed off readymaker to Ms. Tyrrell’s class. We have begun to start talking about our final project for the class. It is a very open project where we get to choose what we create. We also can choose where we create it and if we want to partner up with anyone. I personally want to create a 2-D platformer based off the game Celeste. It was a very challenging platformer that had very simple mechanics to learn but hard to master. It easily was one of my favorite games I’ve played in recent time. So I want to try replicating it a little. I was inspired by a youtube video I watched a year ago and I’ll link it below. That’s about all I have for now, see you next time I post.

It’s been a minute since my last post but we’re back. A lot has happened since my first post but I’ll just go over the most important things. The biggest thing that went on since my last post was the start of using unity. The start was already shaky for unity due to the fact that I had to install unity from my home laptop and it was a little frustrating figuring it all out. After 2 weeks I was on track. During that time we were working on making a terrain and messing around with assets. The biggest struggle I had with unity at the start was keeping sight of my terrain. I’d mess up my camera and for a while I didn’t know how to fix it. More recently we started working on a kind of butterfly game. We created a butterfly using a capsule and cylinders and are making it to be able to move. Overall it has been very interesting.
Link to asset store: https://assetstore.unity.com/ Game Design has been enjoyable so far. I joined the class a little late due to changing my schedule but it wasn’t too bad catching up with everything. So far we’ve been messing around with an app called readymaker. We all created a game of pong to get started due to its simplicity. Even still there were some not as obvious things that I learned. Like to start the game the ball should have a tiny change to its flow direction otherwise it will function weird. Overall I’m excited to see what we do over the year.
